Cover Story - Gogo

Why this Cover?

So it was Mark Salisbury riding the Raleigh Aero Pro burner. He was one of the test riders for the mag and would test ride all the bikes. It was my first copy of Action Bike and my second ever bmx mag (first was an issue of bi-weekly from the month before, i still have all my mags) being a burner boy at the time the Aero Pro was the top bike made by Raleigh and didnt look like the burners me and my pals had. It had a load of nice aftermarket parts as standard. I didnt lust after it, although it was pretty exotic and rare at the time.

The cover jump doesnt really need any other explanation, its a rad one footed table and looks totally Sano. Hes wearing Oakleys and a Jofa, and you'd still get stoked if you saw that today. Well, I would anyway. Look at the leg extension, position of bars to seat, angle of bike and that stare at the camera, all fucking RAD.

The introduction to magazines was a MASSIVE step up, as before that I was just a 9 year old kid who'd had a bmx for a few months jumping off stairs and not knowing about races, freestyle, fancy bike brands or pro riders. It was full of adverts and articles and 3 piece cranks and cruisers and minis and loads of stuff you'd never seen before. It was like a pandoras box of BMX being opened up. I couldnt get enough.
